MINHDU Headquarters Building

This project is the result of a restricted national competition launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU), which we won.

Believing that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development should reflect African art in general, and Cameroonian art in particular, our concept is rooted in an architecture that clearly draws on cultural and traditional symbols of Africa.

With this in mind, we drew inspiration from strong cultural references, such as:

The "ABBIA", a traditional symbol in the culture of the people of southern Cameroon;

Structural columns shaped like a "TAM-TAM", an African cultural element traditionally used as a means of communication;

The use, at the main entrance, of the "NGONG", a traditional piece whose presence traditionally announces the arrival of kings and important figures.

Modernity was not left aside, either.

It is expressed here through the use of horizontal bands on the façade, serving as guardrails for the walkways.
