OHADA Headquarters Building

OHADA is the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa, bringing together 17 member states, with its headquarters located in Yaoundé.

With the goal of building a new, modern headquarters, OHADA launched a restricted international call for tenders, which we won.

The brief called for an ultra-modern building of approximately 15,000 m², to serve as both headquarters and rentable office space.

Our design was guided by the following key ideas:

- Create an environmentally friendly building

- Design welcoming spaces that give occupants a sense of being at home, hence the multiplication of terraces and gardens around the office areas.

- Thoughtfully position terraces to provide shade throughout the day

- Use woven bamboo screens in a fabric-like design wrapping the entire building

The building, comprising two basement levels, a mezzanine and ten upper floors, with a total floor area of approximately 15,000 m², is built on the site of the organization's former headquarters, on a 4,000 m² plot.
